The Root of Our Concerns

batiktembayat

The relationship between nature and us as humans is currently out of balance. The effect of technology and industrial advancement unaccompanied by wisdom is visible in the degradation of our ecosystem quality. Excessive logging, water pollution, and human replacement with robots have triggered a number of concerns in me.

Local craftsmen's value is currently threatened by the strong wave of industrialization and modernization. Fast growing technology and information have repeatedly intervened with life that eventually leaves our younger generation feel hopeless and helpless. This unfortunate situation pushes them to impulsively migrate to big cities, which seems like the only sensible option. Without proper preparation, this decision often ends up dragging them down even further.  Big cities filled with large number of people means competition. Those who do not have the tools to compete will only be leaving the competition with poverty and moral deterioration. In reality, we have so many tools in our hands to help us participate in the race. Our rich culture-based skillset and local treasure should be used as an asset to strengthen our value.
